Puppy Classes

New puppy? Congratulations!! Now, let’s get to work!

Puppy class? We’re all ears!!

When’s the best time to start puppy classes? The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) says that puppies can start socialization classes as early as 7-8 weeks old. However, puppies should have received the first set of vaccines, at minimum, at least seven days prior to the first class. The puppy should also receive his first deworming medication in the same time period. And, as always, the puppies should be kept up-to-date on vaccines throughout lessons.

Why puppy class? The idea of puppy classes is to help socialize your puppy within the first months of his life. Early intervention for behavioral issues can help with fears, phobias and aggression, which can help your dog live a happy life.

What will we learn? I will work with you to help you understand how to teach your puppy what behaviors are correct and what behaviors are wrong, but in a positive way. Your puppy has a lot of happy spirit, and we don’t want to break that! So, yes, we’ll play a lot, give a lot of treats and be prepared to go crazy excited over the littlest thing!
